Devute client work

The studio

Devute started as the company behind my freelance work and became a studio. A cross-functional team of designers, developers and marketers delivers websites, e-commerce, custom platforms and marketing for startups, agencies and small and medium-sized firms. The work spans legal, education, healthcare and retail.

I incorporated it in August 2022 to deal with four problems. There was more demand than one person could deliver. Clients wanted strategy, design, build and marketing from one place. There was no repeatable way to scope and deliver a project, and I had to hire and mentor while still shipping.

My role

I built the team, the process and the client pipeline, and led delivery until I stepped back from the directorship in 2026.

I hired for the gaps around me. The first hires were in design and WordPress development; the marketing team came later. Delivery ran on WordPress, WooCommerce, Laravel and Nuxt.js, with SEO, paid ads and content on the marketing side.

In 2023 I put the process in place: scoping templates, estimation, delivery checklists and client reporting. Every project used the same scoping template and the same delivery process. Clients saw weekly demos. Inside the team, updates were written down.

From 2023 to 2025 the studio scaled, and the project count passed 700 across the four sectors. Throughout, I documented everything, because the goal was a studio that could run without me at the front.

What changed

• 700+ projects delivered across legal, education, healthcare and retail.
• One scoping and delivery process that the team runs without me.
• In 2026 I stepped back from the directorship and moved to an advisory role. New products get built at Devute.
